After many weekends of patching, mudding, and sanding, the ceiling paint finally went on for the first floor. There is nothing like a fresh coat of paint! We are using Behr paint from Home Depot. I have used this for years and have always liked the way it performs. We bought the paint during a July 4th sale for $10 off per can. With 23 cans of paint, it was well worth buying ahead. It may be time to start arguing about light fixtures!
