This raised bed frame is more of a sample than anything. It's made from the fallen Pine trees from April and because it's made of pine logs, it will deteriorate quickly (especially after we fill it with compost).
We're just trying to get a feel for what our garden area and layout might look like; we'll likely experiment with some plantings come spring. Once we do this for the long term, I'm going to want the raised beds to be a good 4 feet off the ground so that they'll be easy to tend.
Ed cut the logs with his chainsaw and then pulled them with his Jeep to their final destination. I think he really enjoyed being outside for a change (as opposed to all of the indoor projects he's been doing).
