Well - the12 baby chicks that we received a little over 2 weeks ago are all still with us. Fingers crossed that our good luck continues...
Whenever I feed them or change their bedding, I now refer to them as my baby dinosaurs; that's because they really are starting to resemble their ancestors... They are "much" taller than they were 2+ weeks ago. They are beginning to feather out too and "fly about" a little bit too. I see them on top of the "heater" and on their roosting bar now whereas I hadn't before. Pretty soon, I'll have to worry about them getting out of the cage when I change their food / water / bedding... I'll have to be real quick and keep the "lid" on so to speak.
I've taken to giving them fresh greens a couple of times a day as a treat and they seem to be enjoying that.
In about 3 more weeks, we'll be able to take them outside to their new home. Hopefully, we'll still have 12 at that point too...
