On Grid Laundry Plans

While I plan on hanging our laundry out to dry as often as I can (and in the basement during the winter), I know we’ll want an on-grid clothes dryer as a back-up.

I’ve been researching on the internet and have discovered that ventless dryers save quite a bit of energy vs their vented counterparts.

I’ve found a highly rated Magic Chef front-load washer / ventless dryer combo on Home Depot’s website that I think will ultimately be our solution. While the reviews say that it takes a lot longer (2-3 hrs.) for clothes to dry in the ventless dryer and while the overall load capacity is smaller than I’m used to (this particular model has a 2.7 cu. Ft. capacity whereas our current washer and dryer each have a capacity in the 4+ cu. Ft. range), I am fine with both “negatives”.

It is only Ed and I now so our laundry load will be less. Additionally, I’m never in a hurry for our laundry to complete its cycle (we have plenty of clothes).
