How We Pet Outdoor Barn Cats in the Cold Rain

Honda Pioneer 520
Sitting In Our Side by Side Inside the Barn with Our Barn Cats

It's a relatively cold, rainy, and overall blustery day here in Wisconsin. Ed took off work mid-week this week in order for us to catch up on some outdoor garden chores. While we haven't been able to get to those due to the weather, we have made a good start on some indoor chores.

That said - part of our daily routine and our commitment to our two relatively new outdoor barn cats is to spend a little snuggle time with them - no matter what.

Given the weather today, we decided to take that snuggling inside the barn in order to stay dry and out of the bluster. As we do not have seating in the barn - we decided on just sitting all together in the side by side (I snuck out to take a quick picture for this post - but I hopped right back in when done as did our second cat...).

While in the barn, we could really hear the rain on the tin roof (you either like all that racket or you do not - but we liked it and enjoyed the snuggle and talk time...).

We talked about storing some of our outdoor seating in the barn for the winter which will give us another option as time marches on. While we're not sure how bad this year's winter will be - each of us is committed to showing our cats some quality loving no matter the weather. This means that we will have to go to them. (We don't want to bring our barn cats inside except in extreme circumstances - they are barn cats and have a job to hunt mice, voles, and other pests; they do have a nice straw lined "dog house" and sleeping pad and blanket in the barn to keep them as comfortable as can be and out of the elements...)

May the snuggles continue!
