Downed Oak Has Been Cleaned Up

Large Old Rotted Oak Stump

Stack of Firewood Kindly Left for Us to Use

Our New View

We were a bit worried that we'd have to take time from our home improvement efforts to remove the recently fallen Oak tree from our front yard; however, a "free firewood" ad on Craigslist did the trick.

The ad introduced us to a new "neighbor" and seems to have been win win for all involved.

The work and wood was split between our next door neighbor who had expressed interest in firewood as well as a nearby "neighbor" that we had never met before who said he'd also like to remove the tree for wood.

It only took two weeks; one week to find someone to remove the wood and one week's worth of work to actually remove the tree (we were told that the work actually started on Sunday afternoon; it was ending Thursday afternoon when I arrived at the property).

I asked if they were happy with their result and the deal and they did give a definate "yes" response. That made me feel better because I know it was an awful lot of hard grueling work in the summer heat. (They were even so kind as to leave a small stack of wood for us!)

We have another large Silver Maple in our front yard that is showing signs of rot. We'd like to get this taken down as well. I offered a similar "deal"; free wood if they want to take it down. The jury's still out... I may have to keep looking...
