I came across a display of beers from the Hillsboro Brewing Company during a recent visit to the Viroqua Food Co-op. I love being able to try local beers, best of all when I can buy a single can to take for a test spin. I opted for the Leaping Lemur Cream Ale.
I cracked it open during our evening campfire, after a long day of painting. We had just finished putting a second coat of paint on our living room and dining room walls.
According to the brewery's website, this beer is made with vanilla, and with its hoppiness coming in at a low 10 IBU, it was a smooth-drinking beer, perfect on a cool evening in front of a fire.
