Bathroom Update

Updated: Dec 30, 2021

We reached an important milestone - we re-installed a toilet in the basement bathroom. After stripping the old adhesive from the concrete floor, we sealed it with a clear epoxy. I was going to wait on the toilet until the shower is installed, but it is handy to have a second bathroom. I installed 2x4 furring to attach the shower wall. The shower pan and wall materials are on order.

We also started assembly of the vanity for the sink. I do not want to install it yet, as I need to put baseboard trim in first. Because it is a bathroom and in a basement, I want to try PVC trim instead of wood, as the absence of organics should reduce the potential for mold. Unfortunately, the local hardware stores do not carry much in the way of PVC trim, so it will mean a long trip to Menards.

I unpacked the sink, thinking I could add the faucet and then set the assembly aside until needed. Unfortunately, the sink has a single hole for a faucet, and we bought a faucet requiring three holes. I thought I had checked the floor model for the faucet style, but perhaps this is a different model. Any plumbing job requires at least three trips to the hardware store, so this will be trip number 2. We'll be there for PVC trim anyway.
